DESCRIPTION: Bright pinkish red and varied green in colour these midge induced galls are often seen in abundance and despite the leaf margins becoming completely inrolled and thickened the galls are quite fragile. Each gall contains one red or orange larvae which pupate within the contorted structure. DISTRIBUTION: Common throughout and best found in the summer months. HABITAT: Found on the leaves of Common and Amphibious Bistort.
